“Just sit there right now
Don’t do a thing
Just rest.
For your separating from God,
From love,
Is the hardest work
In this
World.
Let me bring you trays of food
And something
That you like to
Drink.
You can use my soft words
As a cushion
For your
Head.”
(The Gift, pg. 183)
These days have been heavy. Many tears. I feel I’m in an existential growth spurt – and these are always the toughest to be gentle to myself through. And so I’ve been reading poetry, meditating, writing in my journal (24 pages yesterday), conferring with the wise, and giving myself the space to ‘not know’.
Reading poetry is calming my soul. Pulling down all the edges that are furling up and wanting to tear. Thank you poets. Old and new. Alive and dead. The world needs more poetry! And more people to read it. This holiday season – give the gift of poetry, okay?
Namaste. The light in me honours the light in you.
Hope you’re heeding his words, Vanessa, and resting. You will come through this time with strength, wisdom, and grace.
