Welcome In! We are Vanessa Shields, owner of Gertrude’s Writing Room, and Cassandra Caverhill, owner of The Creativity Cavern. We are two poets/writers who have been teaching creative writing classes and workshops for decades, joining our creative forces to enhance our literary community.
We offer unique, engaging, educational and passionate creative writing workshops, classes and retreats in fabulous, safe, creative spaces! For small, intimate groups, we teach in The Creativity Cavern. For larger gatherings, we teach in creative locations across Windsor/Essex County, and we even offer virtual events you can attend from the comfort of your own home!
When we offer a workshop, class or retreat, we will tell you who they’re for, what will happen, how much it costs and why, and what our policies are. We care deeply about transparency and are committed to upholding kindness in education and collective creativity.
