(This is me. Happy with my decision to continue writing with the veracity and consistency I wrote with over the month of November.)
I’ve decided to carry on my own NaNoWriMo. I’m calling it VANNaNoWriMo.
My goal: Finish a first draft of my YA novel by December 22, 2011.
I took yesterday off from working on my novel. It was a conscious decision to give myself a day of not worrying about getting words out – not because I didn’t have time but because I didn’t want to.
I’m sure if I ran a marathon, I wouldn’t want to run home from the race area. See what I’m saying? That’s just me.
And so, today is Day 1 of a journey to 22 where I will attempt to complete a first draft of my YA novel.
What you are doing now that NaNoWriMo is done?
I agree that I need to write a proper ‘What the hell did I just do?’ reflective piece on breaking my NaNoWriMo hymen…but I’m not quite ready for that yet. I’m still processing.
This was a big deal for me.
Congratulations to all those who took the journey and wrote what they wrote. EVERY WORD COUNTS. Writers write, right?
