Equinox Scream
a pair of Canada geese
rush on the supple wind
their wings in unison
soar them forward
strong black necks like
exclamation marks
over an azure page –
a day in the mighty book of living
today’s language is flight
confidently destined to lift
the frosted veil of winter
in beaks and claws
place it gently lovingly
on shoulders jagged and
smooth of hero mountains
for safekeeping
exhaling warm breath
Spring’s mouth opens wide and screams
her roar awakes change
