Today (A Kind of List Poem)
I start the day at 5:15am
I light candles & write with friends
ponder my lack of usage of the word ‘radiant’
I learn about the Berlin wall jelly donut
about galactic incompetence & the omni-verse
consider the suggestion to say ‘happy harvest’
instead of ‘happy thanksgiving’
I submit ten grant applications & have an
illuminating conversation about medieval
menses & different words we use for vagina
at dinner I eat salad two chicken burgers
slathered in garlic sauce & smashed avocado
plus seven thousand reese’s pieces
later walking in the stickiness of the
six o’clock hour my hot pink tights
scaring away the bugs
I listen to beginning-to-make dreams
dash off of a tongue
the day is radiant with galloping lights
