POEM A DAY – May 4

Last night we watched the film Blue Moon starring Ethan Hawke, Bobby Cannavale, Andrew Scott and Margret Qually, directed by Richard Linklater, written by Robert Kaplow based on letters between Lorenza Hart and Elizabeth Weiland. Today’s poem is inspired by the film! Also, *there’s blue moon this month*! That means, it’s the second full moon in a single month!

it is always a love story

& last night enchantment
came in film dialogue be-
tween two writers banging
souls, swirling in Sardi’s
Manhattan, 1943 & I could
see the actor’s life-light
orb-ing between his fingers
that flailed & braided &
cupped bits of broken hearts
into a portrayal so real
it was real & I am flailing
attempting an effable poem
inside enchantment’s gossamer
glow that cloaks me, weighting
my waiting for the next arc
in my own love story
