Our first workshop begins this Sunday at 10:00am at Bump Maternity.

TOPIC: Letter-writing

DATE: SUNDAY, JULY 10, 2011 10AM – 12:30PM

Led by: Vanessa Shields

Workshop length: 2.5 hours

Let’s put the pen to the paper and write a letter or two! This two-and-a-half hour writing workshop will give a brief history of letter-writing followed by time to write those letters you’ve been meaning to write. Whether it be a thank you note, a life catch-up letter or words of love that need to written – write it in this workshop! Please bring your own stationary and postage! I will provide some stationary as well!


TOPIC: Timed Writing – Various Topics           

DATE: SUNDAY, JULY 17, 2011 – 10AM- 12:30PM

Led by: Vanessa Shields 

Workshop length: 2.5 hours

This two-and-a-half hour writing workshop is for those who just want to write! Writers will be given themes to write about in specifically allotted amounts of time. You’re guaranteed to get your creative juices flowing in this get down and dirty writing workshop!


TOPIC: From Writing What You Know to Writing What You Feel 

One woman’s struggle to find her voice, reclaim her soul, and write it all down before she forgets it.

DATE: SUNDAY, JULY 24, 2011 – 10AM- 12:30PM

Led by: Penny-Anne Beaudoin

Workshop length: 2.5 hours

Using her own personal story Penny-Anne Beaudoin will detail how writing chooses the writer, how our own personal life experiences lead us and fit us to make our own unique contribution to the writing world. She will share the importance of research in non-fiction and fiction, and the importance of emotion in fiction and poetry. Learn about how it feels to be inspired and haunted, as Penny-Anne illustrates different points with selections from her work. 


TOPIC: This Is Not A Poetry Workshop


DATE: SUNDAY, AUGUST 7, 2011 – 10AM- 12:30PM


Led by: Robert Earl Stewart


Workshop length: 2.5 hours


Forget what you thought you knew about poetry. It doesn’t matter what poetry is and isn’t—what matters is that you can create it yourself! Come and explore poetry as it exists in the world around you. Using every day things like photographs, magazines, music and old books, this workshop will have you writing poetry and experimenting with new creative techniques under the guidance of published poet Robert Earl Stewart.


TOPIC: Unleashing the Critic

DATE: SUNDAY, AUGUST 14, 2011 – 10AM- 12:30PM

Workshop length: 2.5 hours

For those of us who hear those negative voices in our heads that hinder our creative spirits, this workshop is for you! Through various writing exercises, get the chance to face your critic on the page and unleash her for good!
