Wounded Writers Ask – Free Write #18 – Name

Yep. I missed yesterday’s prompt. It was too crazy busy…I’ll get to it!

Write a free-verse poem using only the letters in your full name. If you’re married and take your spouse’s surname, you may want to include this name or create a poem with your maiden name, or both. I think what matters here is that you use the names with which you most identify.

(Inspired by Julie Larios.)

VANESSA MARIE BEAULIEU SHIELDS

ABD EIH LMN RSU V

she serves ruins

she runs in blue blame

rains burn dead lies

she shields blares

head buried in shame

she names her shade

is she a sun?

made in shade?

she remains alive in dreams

That was good challenge!
