On Writing

POEM A DAY – January 30

I had a whole other poem nearly ready to go…then I googled something and realized the thing I was writing about already existed…and so the poem didn’t really work anymore. C’est la vie! I switched paths and wrote another haibun (!)! This time, the haiku is spread out within the stanzas.

Managing ice packs
Overcooking noodles
Filling water bottles

surgery complete

Timing medication
Tickling forearm
Rubbing back

impacted wisdoms removed

Folding laundry
Scrambling eggs
Washing dishes

love swells a blue bruise

Holding hands
Kissing forehead
Listening
