POEM A DAY – June 7

The Weight On My Heart Today

four years ago today
I was poem-high, love-beat
having spent the day (and
the day before) writing
poetry on demand at
art in the park. it was
one of the best days.
one of my best days.
I was filled with exultation
laughter, awe at the
size of it all: the people
the sales, the volunteers
the smiles, the magic in
the little writing room
I’d lifted from a dream to
a reality. I had no idea
what would happen next.
