On Writing

POEM A DAY – August 17

Watching My True Love Living His Dream

Heat reds my cheeks as I stand off-side, hiding behind a fence of men in black t-shirts awaiting the director’s attention. The director. The man I love. The man I’ve loved for lifetimes. He sits, relaxed, in a wooden chair at a table in the cafe set like he’s got nowhere else to be. Like he’s not also the writer and the lead character. My heart literally flutters toward him. Toward his softness in this stressful situation. Toward his white beard, so long it’s soft too. And I marvel at all the people in the room gathered to be part of this dream. I see my son, my daughter. I see our friends. I see people I’ve just met and people I don’t know yet. I embrace the space with my smile, though, likely no one sees it. Each is readying for their next step. I have already stepped in. I am in it. This dream. Have been for lifetimes… yet, yet…the in it always rattles my bones, pulls me deeply, more deeply inside. I know him, a small voice whispers in my mind. I love him, my eyes scream, my body shudders. I love him.

Principle photography began today on the feature film ‘A Dangerous Life’ (working title). That man there, he’s my true love! It’s a family affair, this film! It’s all hands (and paws) on set. Yes, both our dogs are also in the film. And so… here we are… living the dream!

AND IN OTHER DREAMS…TOMORROW NIGHT! TUNE IN!
