Writerly Things To Consider – Events, Retreats & More

Hi y’all. I’ve been thinking about you a lot.

I’ve much to say…and am brewing a post that deals with the fact that on Monday, May 28 I will FORTY (GASP) and Jett will be TWELVE (GAG!).

But for today, I’d like to share information on contests and events for writers that are filling my inbox.

Sharing always makes me feel good. You too?

POETS & WRITERS MAGAZINE – LOADS OF SUBMISSIONS!
Poets & Writers Magazine is my favourite for it is the place to go for industry information. From contests to submissions to engaging articles – it’s so inspiring and helpful. Do check their Literary Magazine Database to stay connected with what’s out there!

Biblioasis is always hosting fine, fun events.

QUICK BROWN FOX
This is a website and email blast that is incredible for Canadian writers. Brian Henry, the creator and a creative writing teacher, offers classes, workshops, events that he teaches, but he also includes links to everything from agents to submission calls to success stories. And, he’s doing some work with the Windsor International Writers Conference too! I would click on the website and subscribe so you get all the goodies he offers right to your inbox! Click here to begin!
FIREFLY CREATIVE WRITING
If you’re itching for an out-of-town writing experience – from open mic to writing retreat, you simply MUST visit the Firefly Creative Writing website to see all the incredible things they’re always offering. Click HERE for all the delicious details.
PELEE ISLAND BOOK HOUSE – RETREATS AND RESIDENCES
If you’ve never been to Pelee Island, I urge you to stop the madness and get your booty over there. It’s one of my favourite places to write – and wouldn’t cha know – there’s a house for writers there! Click HERE for the details about writing workshops, retreats and residencies.
WOODBRIDGE FARM – PUBLIC READINGS & EVENTS
Farmer/Writer Grant Munroe has a writing retreat and residencies place on a farm in the county. While residencies are selected, often public readings and events take place over the Spring and Summer. Stay tuned to the website for details. It’s a lovely place to sit, sip and suck in great words from writers! Click HERE for the website.
Now, I know there are way more writerly events and retreats and fine things for us to do, so continue to share things with me on Facebook or via email and I’ll do my best to share them!
Also, I feel like it’s time for an updated post on how to do grant submissions now that things have changed drastically with the Canada Council and Ontario Arts Council. Have you made your profile in the portal yet? It’s muchly much different! Would that interest you?
Thanks for reading. Happy writing. Happy Spring!
Peace.
