POEM A DAY – February 1

Tending

I’ve spent the morning with Brigid
Goddess of creativity, poetry, healing
and the life-giving force of the flame.
We slow-burned under the heat of
this tremendous sun, scream-shining
on the back of my neck like a kiss
from Nonna, who I can feel crossing
the veil at this midpoint between
Winter and Spring. It’s tending time.
The weight of January is complete.
The drudgery of darkness shifts to
out-loud praise. Let us use our voices!
We know resilience because we are
alive. Ground your intentions in the
promise of change underlining our footsteps.
Put your hand on your belly and hold
the miracle of breath – even as some
of us lose the body to violence or disease
or loneliness: the moon shows us how
to wax and wane our light. Witness
the truth of collective love. Vitality
is seeding everywhere. Size and time
are constructs, let each be to you
what it needs to be as you tend
to your divine joy. Yes, now. Your
devotions matter.

Here’s some info about Imbolc and Brigid. It’s a full moon in Leo…the ‘snow’ moon or ‘hunger’ moon marking the snowiest, coldest, most dangerous time of the Winter season, yet also the midpoint between Winter and Spring. We’re making it! Follow your flow!
