NEW COVER REVEAL & BOOK LAUNCH DETAILS!

IT’S IN THE PROOF!

Indeed, is it ever in the proof! So, I excitedly opened the package from the printer which included a proof (a single, printed copy of the book for one final look-through before printing many more copies) of We the Mourners. I had a great WAH WAH. The cover looked downright awful. It was a murky white and the specs that added texture to the design on screen, made the image looks speckled with dirt in real life. I decided to scrap the design (even though I loved the spider lily flowers), and start fresh…resulting in a different vibe, different tone…and I still managed to get the spider-lily floweres in!

Always order a proof! Yes, it can be expensive because it costs the printer more to do a one-off than to print a whole load, but you *NEED* to have your baby in your hands before you give the go-ahead to print hundreds more! You need to hold it, open it, check the gutters (the space between the text and centre interior spine), check the design elements, page numbers, etc.. You definitely need to see the cover and spine and make sure that the book is as beautiful as you deserve it to be!

This is part of the process, whether you self pub or traditionally pub, so don’t skip it, my loos!

You can see the cover on the left is quite a different vibe than the cover on the right. Printed and in my hands, the pinkish cover washed everything out. I’m awaiting the proof of the new cover…she’s coming in this week! Let’s hope this one is the one!

LOCAL BOOK LAUNCH DATE & DETAILS ANNOUNCED!

My local book launch will take place on the University of Windsor campus in the Jackman Dramatic Art Centre! I’m sooo excited because this is the same building when I launched my collection Look At Her way back in 2016…! So, please won’t you join me in celebrating my newest collection of poetry in the same very cool, very artsy building. There will be light refreshments, and books for signing and sale! (Cash or etransfer)

JACKMAN DRAMATIC ART CENTRE LOCATION

This is what the Jackman Dramatic Art Centre looks like! It is located across from the old residence in the quad, tucked behind the student centre. Parking is on the street, on Huron Church or Wyandotte.
