Maps I
she says, I love maps!
& my body becomes landscape
hair follicles rising to mountain range
tufts of hair forest forearms
& as she guides me into my guts
I walk them like red caves in sedona
my palm caressing the eroded walls
years of worry ridging pockets
fear-shucked alcoves bumpy
under my feet, yet I carry a
torch. shine light on textures
of my internal topography.

Almost ten years ago this summer, I was touring in Toronto for my poetry book Look At Her. I had the honour of being interviewed by Valentino Assenza, host of HOWL, a radio show for writers of all kinds! Valentino is a gracious, hard-working, compassionate human. I was sure to snap pics of us that evening when the show was recorded live (I think? Memory?!) in-studio! Look at me! Short hair! Pre-menopausal. BAhhhahahahaha! I look so young…!
In any case, this afternoon, I was interviewed once again by Valentino! I’m so excited to share the interview that will air on Tuesday, August 18 at 10pm on CIUT 89.5FM. (I’ll remind you!)
