On Writing

POEM A DAY – Sept. 4 & 5 & Interview Event Tomorrow!

September 4

Reading Instead of Writing
After Doris Lessing’s The Summer Before The Dark

the woman in the book
galavants in Spain with her lover
she ponders the seascape
drinks bitter coffee
touches her manicured
fingertips to her bottom lip

everything is sensational
yet inside, she tumults
her son’s voice, wicked
slithers the snake of darkness
her mother-skin half-shed
she dreams of a lost seal

the nest empties
what remains: love’s detritus
one strong wind breaks home

September 5

cleaned my office this afternoon

boob sweat
neck sweat
throat tight
cortisol exit
music magic
oracle cards
print emails
make lists
new datebook

grotto workspace
flock-ready creative cave
waiting for the birds
