Wounded Writers Ask: Free Write #15 – Because I Am

Prompt: Write five lines that speak to what it means to be YOU. Here are some examples to get you started: “Because I am a(n) activist, artist, bartender, caretaker, Dad, driver, cashier, dancer, only child, one of eight, the only cook in the house, the soccer mom, etc.

Wicket from Word Well: flower (because they are staring right at me. a small bouquet of pink gerbera daisies that the hubby gifted me last week.)

because i am a human, i question my being.

because i am a human, i am often confused.

because i am a human, i feel the dust of a trillion stars sifting through my skin.

because i am a human, i feel so much.

because i am a human, i am compelled to express this awareness or…darkness.

because i am a human, i am still evolving.

because i am a human, i am emotional.

because i am a human, i am holding this vessel we call body open like a book that is a guide.

because i am a human, i have thoughts that scare me…and also that bring me joy.

because i am a human, i can choose.

because i am a human, i choose to be in constant bloom.

because i am a human, i know to smell flowers.
