HELLO! Whatcha readin’? Bookish things for you.

HELLO!

The hubby and I had a fancy date to go see Lionel Richie at the DTE Theatre over the weekend. It was AMAZING!

Richie sang all his hits! Even ‘We Are The World’ at which point thousands of people stood and sang together. I cried. Of course, I cried.
Lionel is a star! Classy and hilarious! I felt like we were at a family reunion! What a stellar guy!
The hubby is real. I don’t often post pics of us/him, but here we are. #truelove

Summer vacation has officially started for the kidlets. We have been spending much time together – poolside, inside the pool – playing cards, watching movies, playing badminton and backgammon. We have promised each to reach three novels this summer.

The Goose and I. #classictongueout

I’m reading the following:

Marijuana Murders by my dear friend and mystery writer, Mark Bacon.

Manhattan Beach by Jennifer Eagan

And I’ve pre-ordered:

Stormrise by the incredible Jillian Boehme – who is also known as the great ‘Authoress’ and/or Miss Snark for many, many years on-line. She recently revealed her identity so that we could support her burgeoning writing career! It’s very worth following her blog! Follow and support HERE! Boehme is a dazzling light in the literary world – I can’t wait to get my eyes and hands on her first novel! Congratulations!

Daughter of Family G by Ami Mckay – author of Canadian greats like The Virgin Cure and The Birth House! She is one of my all-time favourite writers. Sheesh. I love her! She writes a great newsletter as well so be sure to subscribe. It’s a wonderful way to support your favourite writer!

I’m also reading three manuscripts by local writer! Wow! I’m swimming in delicious poetry! #lovemyjob

And…YOU’RE INVITED!

There’s still a chance for you to WIN A SIGNED COPY OF CASEY PLETT’S LITTLE FISH!

All you have to do is put a comment in this blog! Let me know what you’re reading! First comment – first win!

All Write In Sin City – New Podcast Episode!

All Write: For love and money

This episode launches our new mobile studio, and we talk to an Essex County native who writes for money and for love, and a powerful speculative fiction writer. We recorded this show in the cozy library at All Saints’ Church in downtown Windsor.

Essex County native Van Waffle drops by from his home in Waterloo to talk about his writing. Van makes his living writing freelance for various nature and health publications, but also writes poetry and fiction. We hear a sample of a novel underway. Author Brittni Brinn also chats with us about genre writing and reads from her latest book, The Patch Project. Catch Van’s Speed River Journal blog at vanwaffle.com and find out more about Brittni at brittnibrinn.com.

Grant Monroe and friends (four-legged included) are hosting their annual summer reading event! Do have a go – bring your lawn chairs!

Of course, Gertrude’s Writing Room has some fun options this summer too!

Me? What will I be writing? Ho-hum – welllllll! I’ll be back on Hangman with the mother-of-all-rewrites, plus edits on the poetry manuscript and new work on two new novels whose characters are having tea together in my brain.

What writerly things are you up to this summer? What are you reading? Do share, friends!

Stop by at Gertrude’s too, okay? See you then.
