POEM A DAY – May 14

Letting It Be

Jealousy is thieving my joy
This asserting blue-sky morning
Maybe it’s because I went to bed so late
Maybe it’s because I looked at instagram too early

She weeps for a year of being viral
This one gets a longlist
That one is a teen and already an alumna
Of the workshop my old body yearns for

I’m not fighting it not questioning it either
Jealousy can stay for as long as it wants
It’ll pass like my gut rot like my neighbour who won’t
Stop idling is dirty truck

At some point he turns it off or drives away
Tomorrow I’ll tuck my naked soles in cold sand
I’ll be alone but not alone because lake, sky, wind
Because jealousy, joy, instagram
