POEM A DAY – JULY 11

fresh peppers & lavender

first I pick the peppers
bend & snap the green
goblets off the prickly stem

the puppy is mouthing
the yellow peppers
spicy nibbled danger

sticks strewn on the deck
I gather a small abundance
for dinner, veggies & dip

the lavender beckons
tall-ing towers of sprig
scent-sations, I tear a

few leaves with my fingers
then palm them & rub
lift my hands to my nose

inhale, wonder how can I
make cream? perfume?
how can I witch-ify this gift?
